This handmade wooden sun and moon pendant holds day and night in a single disc: the sun on one side and the moon on the other, in two contrasting woods, the bright cream of flamed maple and the warm rosy tone of bois de rose. The two halves are joined by hand along a wavy line that forms a horizon between two skies. Available in two mirrored versions, with the sun on flamed maple or on bois de rose.
The name Sirius comes from the brightest star in the night sky, the Dog Star, which also gives Dogstar its name. Beside the moon, I set it as a tiny hand-set rhinestone that catches the light as the pendant moves.
Entirely handmade in Italy, using woods born to build musical instruments, with a natural oil finish. The bail is a brass guitar string ball-end, attached to the pendant with a guitar string, and the adjustable paracord necklace closes with a sliding knot. Diameter 34 mm, one of a kind: the grain never repeats twice.
